I am a bit vain.  I won’t go out if my hair is a mess, my gadgets are protected in chic cases, and my running shoes have to look girly yet be functional… Basically, in my perfect world, everything I own should look good, feel good, and last long.

Now, let me introduce you to one of my favorite things to carry out and about:

My KOR ONE hydration vessel...

It’s a reusable bottle that’s so exquisitely designed, you just want to be seen with it.

I had searched far and wide for the perfect reusable water bottle, but I had to settle for less-appealing ones that never seemed to last. I’d forget them. They were hard to carry. They made my water taste funny. Taking a sip out of them made a mess and a whole lot of noise. They’d break for one reason or another, or I’d lose them. In comes my KOR one, that I’ve had since 2009, and I still use it everyday. The handle on top makes the bottle easy to grip. The thread-less spout makes drinking from it natural and pleasant, and since it’s a wide spout, I can add ice cubes (because I like my water ice cold). It’s super-sturdy. I’ve dropped it. I’ve banged it against my desk. It rolls around under my car seat etc., but it shows very little wear. Honestly, I just love the way it looks. It has an urban chic sleek appeal that’s just perfect for an active, working girl who’s constantly on the go and likes to look good.

The #1 reason I [heart] my KOR One so much: It’s beautifully designed and perfectly functional. It’s the all-occasions bottle. It’s sleek enough for the conference table yet sturdy enough for the gym. It’s perfectly convenient to tuck in your oversized purse while you’re running errands and comfortable enough to grip by the handles on top and take anywhere.

I’m probably making the KOR sound very girly and feminine aren’t I? It’s not. I’ve gifted many to guy friends, and they all love it. But hey, don’t just take my word for it… darlingspud (he edits my posts, pro-bono!) loves his KOR One hydration vessel so much he kindly wrote a more masculine perspective for the blog:

The dearest agentnerdy gifted me a blue KOR ONE last year, and living in a rural area, I get lots of stares when carrying my KOR ONE around.

My blue KOR ONE first debuted at the wedding of a family friend last August. I had my trusty elixir toter right by my side as I ran the multimedia system. Many people stared as if I were trying to smuggle ”something” into the church.

“It’s a hy-dra-tion vessel, people, not a hy-dro-gen bomb.”

I use my blue KOR ONE at work everyday to quench my workday thirst with water. It is perched at the corner of my glass desk, and when I have visitors, they try not to stare. I’m thinking that some people see it as a taboo piece and wonder if it is some strange ritual device stemming from my multiracial background? They look at me, then the KOR, at me, then back at the KOR. It’s as if they are waiting for me to explain myself and the odd “thing” sitting on my desk. I ignore the inaudible questions and instead offer up some black licorice or ginger candy. Eventually, the questions begin…

“What is that thing?” “Where did you get that?” “How much did it cost?”

When people see me drinking from it (and the lid is covering my mid brow line), I think they half expect to see a vestigial third eye suddenly emerge from behind the lid when I lower the KOR ONE to talk to them. I should put an eyelid sticker on my forehead just to mess with people.

The KOR ONE hydration vessel makes drinking water more fun. Why? It’s fun to look at it. It really is. It has technical functionality. It oozes sci-fi. It’s obviously an attention-grabber and conversation-starter. To the untrained eye, it appears as if I should be filling it with interesting items and burying the thing as a time capsule. Aesthetics aside, the KOR One is a great way to avoid disposable water bottles. My daily ritual at work is to fill it and drink it several times, and if there is water in it at the end of the workday, I water the plants. 

As you may notice in nerdy’s picture above, the KOR ONE is on her car seat. That’s because the KOR ONE does not fit securely in her cupholders nor mine. Don’t let this be a reason to not enjoy a KOR hydration vessel. (I hear the KOR Delta  & Vida 500mL should fit just fine!) 

For washing the KOR ONE, I sometimes just use a chopstick and a dish rag with soapy water. Invest in a bottle brush for even easier washing.  Oh, the KOR ONE also makes for a great image filter…
